I have considered professional help, although Covid has made me reluctant. I do not want to discuss it with my wife – I don’t want to worry or burden her – and don’t see how she could help. The OCD pressure is worse when I am with people. But after tha t, the pressures built up again and I began to repeat the stock reassuring phrases I had invented, and to give in to the absurd tics.
